Just a 20 minute walk from the village of Grassington and close by to the Dales Way and the Cycle Way. Over four centuries ago a Scottish moss-trooper (Jamie Ibbotson) settled and built Ling House and his descendants have lived in it ever since. The family made Threshfield famous for making besoms and horse dealing. Making the besoms from ling gathered from the moor and then delivering them all around the dales using their horses and carts. You can view all the tools they used for making the besoms at Skipton museum and you can still see today several of their favorite horse shoes displayed on the barn door.
